It gives me great pleasure to introduce and interview the fabulous Elle Brooks to my blog with "Promises Hurt" her debut novel and coming out later in the year book two (cannot wait).
BLURB
I wasn't planning on falling for Ethan Jamison, hell I wasn't planning on our paths ever crossing. He’s the most popular guy at school and a complete player. Me; I’m the perpetual good girl, trying to carry out one last request. But when you make a promise, how far do you go to see it through?
~ Blair
It’s a running joke that I’m a terrible liar, if only people knew the truth. My whole life has been spent making excuses and deflecting questions. I was pretty good at it until Blair Thomas entered my world. She saw through the mask that everyone is so willing to accept. She makes me want to tell her all my secrets, but can she promise to keep them?
~ Ethan

INTERVIEW
1/ Can you tell us a little about yourself?
I’m a mother, wife and serial book boyfriend cheater. Seriously, I fall
in love with a new leading man at least twice a week. I’m a glass half full
type of girl but only after 10:00 am - early mornings and I are not friends,
and if I haven’t had a coffee fix as soon as I wake up, I’m not worth knowing!
2/ Please share 5 fun facts about yourself that most people don't know?
I love fresh strawberries, but can’t stand anything strawberry flavored.
3/ I can turn my eyelids inside out (Gross, I know).
I broke my ankle in a pair of high heels at 11years old, an hour after
my mom told me I couldn’t wear them because I would break my ankles in them.
(Damn why are mom’s always right!).
Extreme weather scares me.
I have a recurring dream that a tornado hits and I’m running around my
house looking for the best place to anchor myself. I’ve had it for as long as I
can remember.
4/ What was your ideal career when you were a child?
I wanted to be an Air Hostess, which now coincidentally would be my idea
of the absolute worst job in the word. I hate flying.
5/ What inspired you to become an author?
I’ve had “write a novel” on my bucket list since being a teenager. I’ve
always loved to read and once I discovered the indie world, I was hooked.
6/ When did you start writing?
I started writing Promises Hurt christmas 2013, It was never meant to be
seen by anyone but me.
7/ What’s your favorite music?
I can’t give you a direct answer to that, my musical tastes are
extremely eclectic. I love a little of everything except heavy metal. generally
I play whatever suits the mood I’m in.
8/ How long does it take to write sex scenes?
Soooo long. I write them, read them back, blush like mad and then delete
them and start again! The first scenes I write are often the “dirtiest” by the
time I’ve shocked myself and rewritten them at least five times, they usually
make it into the book.
9/ Where do you find writing inspiration?
Everywhere, I’m a people watcher so i’ll often notice someone and make
up scenarios in my head about their lives. The places I travel, music I listen
to, books I read all inspire me.
10/ Do you have a favorite writing snack?
No, but I ALWAYS have a coffee with me.
11/ Do you have any writing rituals?
Not really, is it weird that now you’ve highlighted that I want to start
one?
12/ Do you prefer to write in silence or with music?
With music, but it has to be on very low.
13/ Where’s your favorite place to write?
In front of my window.
14/ What’s the best way to get over writer’s block?
Power through it, I write anything, even if I know its complete garbage
because at some point i’ll hit the zone and the ideas will flow.
15/ Can you tell us about your current book, Promises Hurt:
Sure, It’s about, friendship, love and finding that someone that gets
you completely. That person that you don’t have to wear a mask with, you can
just be yourself.
Promises Hurt isn’t a sunshine and flowers book. There are plenty of
funny and lighthearted parts, but it touches on serious issues also. Many
of my readers messaged me once they had finished the book saying that it had
their emotions thrown about as if they were on a rollercoaster.
16/ What can readers expect next from you?
The conclusion!
17/ What do you think makes a good story?
The “FEELS” I love any book that can evoke a strong reaction out of me.
I live for the books that make me feel.
18/ What is your favorite all time book?
That’s like asking me to pick a favourite child! I can’t do it. I can
give you maybe three…
Me before you - JoJo Moyes
The First Last Kiss - Ali Harris
Maybe Someday - Colleen Hoover
The Opportunist - Tarryn Fisher
Unteachable - Leah Raeder
Taking Chances - Molly McAdams
Okay so I know that’s not three, I just love so many books.
19/ Other than writing, what are some of your passions in life?
I love to run, read and anything that involves having fun with my family
:)
20/ If you were deserted on an island, who or what would you have to
have?
Channing Tatum and a LARGE bottle of baby oil!
21/ If you could have any superpower what would you choose?
Invisibility, no wait…. the ability to teleport, scratch that nope,
definitely invisibility. The perving and mischief you could cause is endless.
