Let me tell you a little about myself. I am Author Holly J. Gill my genre is erotic romantic, however, recently I have written a fantasy paranormal which I really enjoyed writing. I think as a writer it’s great to have the opportunity to write different works and experiment and step away from your comfort zone and I for one love to explore different avenues.

I am lucky to live in England and have some stunning scenery surrounding me and what I enjoy is driving the breath-taking countryside and the calm lifestyle that comes with it. I live in a town where it surrounded by noise and therefore, thankfully my husband likes to drive out of the town and take me to some of the stunning places our county offers, and I will confess, stunning places. I love visiting Stately Homes, castles, in fact crumbling monasteries in fields sensing of how lives were led hundreds of years ago makes me happy, there is nothing better than to gather a picnic and take in the depths and history of England. Many of the sights are owned by Heritage or National trust preserving such beauty.

One of my favourite areas since being a child has been Yorkshire Dales.
Breath-taking views, idyllic and so peaceful, all you can hear is the birds singing and sheep grazing in the fields. It’s truly wonderful to stand on-top of a hill and look down and the ever changing landscape, the limestone built building and the brick built walls, add to the magnificent setting. Streams and rivers that take you for acquaint walks and viaducts. I have to confess, to see such beauty I don’t mind pitching a tent and enjoying. Many films have also been shot in the area such at Kevin Costner, Prince of Thieves, Harry Potter, and Wuthering Heights and many more.

And it is Yorkshire that recently has fed my imagination, sparked the fire and set my mind into a whirlwind of creating my recent manuscripts. I love such elegance and the history feel, setting the scene, the location, yet maybe just changing a few little minor details, creating the atmosphere and the feel for the story. Recently my fascination has been with an old boys school that has recently been changed back into a home, prizing with some stunning Grade I listed Hall close to York built back in 1610. A stunning Jacobean mansion house and immaculately restored to the highest standard, retaining important architectural details including an arcade of Doric columns and cornicing. The hall is set in approximately 83.5 acres of riverside gardens with rolling countryside in a quiet, secluded valley, having architectural grnadour throughout keeping its history, and those images are enough for me to create using the Hall for WIP.

I think you can agree, stunning location, and yes I am jealous!

Thank you for visiting and have a wonderful Spring :)

  1. Any where in Scotland or Greece.

  2. Thanks so much for taking part in the hop! As a medieval writer for the most part, I'd say castles and historical locations always inspire me. Thank you for the fab pics - Sam x

  3. Going to sound a little odd but the catacombs and old churches in Spain. I like the smell of the stones and the colors from the stained glass. Always makes me think of murder/mystery books for some reason.

  4. A few of the highland romance writers went on a castle tour of Scotland and posted some pics of their trip and those were so amazing I definitely think they would inspire people.

  5. I too enjoy the countryside and living in CA we have both stunning beaches and mountains and my Sister and Mother now live in the most stunning valley in Montana. The more I can get away from Los Angeles, the better.

  6. Thank you so much for sharing your pictures!! They are gorgeous!! <3

I haven't been out of the states but I loved pics of Paris & Italy, and I hope to one day visit there. The places i've been to that I absolutely love,... one is New York City! I love sitting in the middle of Times Square & watching all the different people! And another place I love is Los Angeles! I had went to the Santa Monica beach with friends & I was standing in the water ankle deep, just watching everything,... I took a picture of the water with the sun beaming down off it & a sailboat was going by,... it was one of the prettiest pictures I have ever taken with my phone. It was such a peaceful relaxing place & I want to go back. =)

Thank you for this giveaway! =)

I hope you have a great week!

  7. It appears we have several things in common. We're both English. We love the countryside. We both write romance, and... we have both ventured into the paranormal. It was pleasure reading your blog. Thank you

  8. any location is inspiration for me. Just out of the blue, one day close your eye, take a deep breath and when you open your eyes, look at your (lets say backyard) in a different light. Lets say look up towards the sky through the leaves, all those different colors, or even the shapes of the clouds or how fast they are going. Thank you for being a part of the hop and sharing the beautiful pictures!

  9. New Orleans, Louisiana is a very inspirational place for me. The way that the city is trying to bounce back from Hurricane Katrina is an inspiration on its own. That's if you disregard the culture, citizens and food.

  10. The mountains inspire me. They are beautiful, mysterious, and full of life (well, most of them).

Thanks for hosting the giveaway. I love finding new authors to read. Fingers crossed to win.

    Happy Spring!
