He wants to tell Daisy the truth, but before he can he needs to verify that she is indeed the woman he's looking for. He never meant to get involved with her, but she's just so tempting.

When Daisy finds out the truth will she be able to forgive Micah's lie by omission? After all, he's deceived her from the first moment she laid eyes on him, and she's had her fill of deceitful men. And can she forgive the woman who gave her up thirty years ago?

When Rose’s past catches up with her will she survive? Jack will stop at nothing to make sure she does.

But when she meets Jack Calloway he refuses to let her hide behind her shell. She’s confused about her feelings for this man who takes every opportunity to be close to her, to touch her, to make her feel. But she knows one thing for sure—she can’t let him become important to her.

Jack’s motto had always been ‘to protect’. An ex-Navy Seal who is now part owner of a security firm, he takes his work seriously. When he installs a security system in Rose’s club as a favor to her sister, he finds himself intrigued by the beautiful young woman who fights so hard to keep him at a distance. Can he break through her shell and provide her with the protection she needs but refuses to accept?

REJECTING HIS DESIRE – EXCERPT

"Honey girl, you look as if you'd rather be somewhere else."

The familiar voice made Rose's stomach clench and her heart race.

She cleared her throat, turning around. "I was thinking about changing my clothes. I'm not really all that comfortable in this type of attire."

Jack's dark eyes went over her from top to bottom, his perusal slow, until his eyes rested on hers. "That'd be a real pity, Rose, 'cause you look beautiful in that dress."

"Yeah, right." She laughed. "Is that a pick-up line, Jack?"

Even on her best day she thought she just looked 'okay', nothing out of this world, definitely not a beauty like Daisy and Jasmine. Rose thought that the beauty gene must have passed her by, because her two sisters were beautiful while she was merely passable.

The male species were okay, but she'd never found one that made her sigh and swoon. She was used to putting up a front, fighting her battles, but truth be told, she was embarrassed and felt uncomfortable in such close proximity with Jack.

He reached over, slipping his finger around a curl that the hairdresser had tonged into her straight hair, it was left loose while the rest of her hair was piled on top of her head. He twined it around his finger, doing it as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

She reached up, circling his wrist with her fingers, only they were too small, and it made her aware of just how large he was.

He gave her a questioning look. "You gonna try and throw me down the stairs or something?" His mouth twitched as his eyes twinkled with amusement.

She stared hard at him. She didn't like to be touched. "If I have to."

Rose was defiant; she knew for sure that no way in hell would she be able to do that. When he'd allowed her to kick his six and a half feet of muscled body out of her club she'd had to admit surprise. Rose thought a man like him would have been mortified by a female getting one over on him, but he hadn't even lifted a finger to stop her.

He stepped back, and she held her breath when she felt his fingers touch her neck as he let go of her hair. Her insides did that shaking thing which had also happened the last time she saw him. He leaned against the banister and shoved his hands into his trouser pockets.

"So why'd you laugh when I called you pretty?"

"Because I thought it was funny and a terrible pick-up line."

He raised his eyebrows. "You think that was a pick-up line?"

"Wasn't it?" She moved back, or tried to; she was already pushed against the window. He was so close, she had to look up to talk to him. The air seemed limited, and she blew out a breath to cool her very unattractive sweaty upper lip.

"No, it was the truth. You look beautiful."

She tried to be casual by shrugging her shoulders, but she was standing in four-inch heels, and the movement unbalanced her—there was no way that was ever going to end well. She fell forward straight into his arms, her braless breasts squashed into his hard chest.

Immediately her nipples hardened, and she was shocked. She could feel her body enjoying the warmth of Jack Calloway before she realized he had his arms around her with his long fingers laying on the bare skin of her back. Jeezus, was that an electric shock whizzing down her arms to the tips of her toes?

She pushed back, looking up into those black eyes that were half closed. He, on the other hand, seemed perfectly unaffected by what had just happened. Although he wasn't smiling as he had been, the facetiousness had disappeared. She frowned. Had she imagined that sizzle of awareness? No…the soles of her feet felt like a pincushion.

"You are beautiful," he insisted.

My home is on the beautiful island of Anglesey on the west coast of North Wales. Anglesey has been my home since the age of eleven after moving here with my mum and dad and three sisters from Scotland.

I'm the proud mother of two grown children. My daughter Emma is a primary school teacher, and my son Christopher is part of the family business.

I'm a health freak and a vegetarian. Pilates class combined with visiting the gym at least four times a week keeps me fit. I love clothes, makeup, and having my nails and hair done. I'm just a girl's girl.

If I'm not in my office pounding the keys I'm sitting in my favorite chair reading books and discovering new authors on my Kindle.

As a young child I loved to write. I always carried a notebook and pen around with me and wrote about everything. I never thought for one moment I would ever be able to pick up a book with my name on it and say "I wrote that". It was a dream coming true when I signed with a publisher for my first book in November 2012. So, dare I say at the young age of fifty I think it's time for me to see if those dreams are everything that I hope they will be.

Welcome to the Tiki Torch CafĂ©!  I’m your hostess, Tricia Alexander, and today’s specials include-

Ah, Tricia?  I’m not here to eat, I’m here to interview you.  Have a seat and say hello to all my friends out in cyberspace.

(Sitting down)  Oh my, what an honor!  Kenzie, I just sent you a friend request.  Just a moment.  Justin?  Two iced teas please…okay, now where were we?

By now, readers have seen the excerpt I posted about your reaction to Brock.  Inquiring minds want to know, how long did it really take for you to accept the fact he was an alien?

(Lowers voice)  It still boggles my mind every time he transports, or one of the Elders talks to us through my TV set, or even the fact he can communicate telepathically.

I can imagine!  Is TriJupe really as beautiful as it sounds?

Better.  (Beverages arrive)  Thank you, J.  Remember the images of Risa, on Deep Space Nine?  That was my impression.  Brock assured me it does rain every two weeks or so.  I was fortunate to be there on sunny days.

Is dating an alien any different from dating a human?  Aside from the differences you’ve already mentioned.

The only difference I notice is his confusion over some pop culture references.  Every once in a while I’ll say something and he’ll take it literally, like ‘pop a squat’ or ‘that’ll do, pig’ (from Babe), and he looks confused.  It shows he didn’t hang around me all the time, which is a relief!  He doesn’t understand my love of the movie Spinal Tap either.

I love that movie!  (sings ‘Sex Farm Woman’ and Tricia joins in for a few bars.  We get stares from the other patrons)  Uh-oh, I think we’re the only ones who ‘tap’ into this music.

That’s okay.  He has to return home for one of our Earth days, so come over and we’ll watch it together.  Rocky Horror also confuses him.  (Breaks into ‘Sweet Transvestite’)

We’re getting slightly off track.  You mentioned on of our Earth days.  What’s the time difference between Earth and TriJupe?

From what I understand, one Earth day equals one week on TriJupe.  This is where it gets confusing, since one year on TriJupe is equal to about six weeks on Earth.  Brock is actually nearly twice my age, though he only looks thirty-five.  People also live longer on his planet.

I’ve been given a few questions to ask you, if you don’t mind.  Do you have any annoying habits which are not shown in the book?

(Laughs)  Brock says I snore.  Justin would say I tend to micro-manage the cafĂ© instead of trusting him.  In my defense, he’d have more of a jungle motif in here if I’d let him!

(Looking around at the tropical paradise theme with a few plants, tiki torches, and island pictures).  Yes, too much greenery would swallow this space.

Thank you! I am thinking of adding a small fish tank over there.  Stacy, one of the servers, loves Beta fish, and since they’re pretty easy to care for, we may get a few, plus goldfish.  Come back in a few months to see if we’re successful.

I’ll do that.  Do you have any hobbies?

I read and am horribly addicted to Reality TV.

Is Brock a good kisser?

Oh my, yes.  He’s the best!

Describe a typical Saturday.

Justin and I split the day.  I work until two or three, then he takes the evening shift.  Before Brock, I’d have dinner or drinks with friends, then either a night on the town or going to see a movie.  Now, Brock and I spend the evening together, and he’s still learning about humans.

Even though he’s observed you all these years?

He says the observation wasn’t 24/7, it was more like an hour or so every day.  Brock also observed others, and he’s done remarkable well enough to blend into our society, but like I said, something every now and then still trips him up.

One last question:  Are you happy with the title?

Definitely!  I think Heart’s Last Chance is a wonderful title.  I really liked Star-Crossed Lovers, but wasn’t that fond of Star Bond.  I’m so happy you changed it!

Me too.  (stands)  I look forward to seeing you again, Tricia.

Come by any time.  Have a croissant on the house.  (Leads me to the pastry counter)

Thank you!  Now for a short excerpt from Heart’s Last Chance, which arrives Sept. 18th from Secret Cravings Publishing.

Blurb:

Tricia Alexander's dreams are haunted by a mystery lover.  When she discovers the man she met in a nightclub is from another planet, will she accept his story or kick him out?

Brock was young Tricia's imaginary friend and confidant, and watched her grow up over the years.  After gaining permission from the leaders of his planet, he sought to bond with her twice before, but with little results.  When he's given a final chance, will he succeed?  Or will a family crisis prove too much?

Excerpt:

“Are you a person? Or are you a little green man on your planet? A wisp of light? A hideous creature?”

“While I’m with you, I’ll be in human form.” Brock touched his lips to the sensitive area under her left ear.

“But when you’re not?”

“Darling Tricia…do we have to go through this now?” His hands peeled the straps of her bra down her arms. “I want you naked in my arms, my lips on your body, and your sighs in my ears.” He scooped both breasts into his palms, loving the way her nipples hardened into points. “Does my language turn you on?” Brock traced the swell of each breast with a light finger.

Her breath hitched. “I just wanted to be sure I wouldn’t wake up and find you in your natural form, whatever it is.” Tricia’s voice dropped to a whisper when he sucked her left nipple into his mouth. “Brock…is that even your name?”

Brock lifted his head. “It’s the closest translation of my name, BaRok. Now I see the only way to get you to be quiet is to either kiss you or give that mouth something to do. Which will it be?” He picked her up and laid her on the bed, pulling her thong down her legs.

Tricia licked her lips. “What will you give my mouth? You’re wearing too many clothes.”

Brock unbuttoned his shirt and threw it on the floor, then slipped out of the rest of his clothing. He cupped his erection in his palm. “Where does my vixen want my cock? In your mouth or your glistening pussy?”

(Hands me the steaming croissant filled with chocolate)  Ohhh, if I’d known you were going to post that excerpt, I’d have offered you some wine in my office!  Thank you Kenzie.

(Blowing on my snack)  You’re most welcome.  Rain check on the wine?

You bet.  Where will I be able to find this book again, to tell my friends?

It gives me great pleasure to introduce and interview the fabulous Elle Brooks to my blog with "Promises Hurt" her debut novel and coming out later in the year book two (cannot wait).

BLURB

I wasn't planning on falling for Ethan Jamison, hell I wasn't planning on our paths ever crossing. He’s the most popular guy at school and a complete player. Me; I’m the perpetual good girl, trying to carry out one last request. But when you make a promise, how far do you go to see it through?

~ Blair

It’s a running joke that I’m a terrible liar, if only people knew the truth. My whole life has been spent making excuses and deflecting questions. I was pretty good at it until Blair Thomas entered my world. She saw through the mask that everyone is so willing to accept. She makes me want to tell her all my secrets, but can she promise to keep them?

~ Ethan

INTERVIEW

1/ Can you tell us a little about yourself?

I’m a mother, wife and serial book boyfriend cheater. Seriously, I fall in love with a new leading man at least twice a week. I’m a glass half full type of girl but only after 10:00 am - early mornings and I are not friends, and if I haven’t had a coffee fix as soon as I wake up, I’m not worth knowing!

2/ Please share 5 fun facts about yourself that most people don't know?

I love fresh strawberries, but can’t stand anything strawberry flavored.

3/ I can turn my eyelids inside out (Gross, I know).

I broke my ankle in a pair of high heels at 11years old, an hour after my mom told me I couldn’t wear them because I would break my ankles in them. (Damn why are mom’s always right!).

Extreme weather scares me.

I have a recurring dream that a tornado hits and I’m running around my house looking for the best place to anchor myself. I’ve had it for as long as I can remember.

4/ What was your ideal career when you were a child?

I wanted to be an Air Hostess, which now coincidentally would be my idea of the absolute worst job in the word. I hate flying.

5/ What inspired you to become an author?

I’ve had “write a novel” on my bucket list since being a teenager. I’ve always loved to read and once I discovered the indie world, I was hooked.

6/ When did you start writing?

I started writing Promises Hurt christmas 2013, It was never meant to be seen by anyone but me.

7/ What’s your favorite music?

I can’t give you a direct answer to that, my musical tastes are extremely eclectic. I love a little of everything except heavy metal. generally I play whatever suits the mood I’m in.

8/ How long does it take to write sex scenes?

Soooo long. I write them, read them back, blush like mad and then delete them and start again! The first scenes I write are often the “dirtiest” by the time I’ve shocked myself and rewritten them at least five times, they usually make it into the book.

9/ Where do you find writing inspiration?

Everywhere, I’m a people watcher so i’ll often notice someone and make up scenarios in my head about their lives. The places I travel, music I listen to, books I read all inspire me.

10/ Do you have a favorite writing snack?

No, but I ALWAYS have a coffee with me.

11/ Do you have any writing rituals?

Not really, is it weird that now you’ve highlighted that I want to start one?

12/ Do you prefer to write in silence or with music?

With music, but it has to be on very low.

13/ Where’s your favorite place to write?

In front of my window.

14/ What’s the best way to get over writer’s block?

Power through it, I write anything, even if I know its complete garbage because at some point i’ll hit the zone and the ideas will flow.

15/ Can you tell us about your current book, Promises Hurt:

Sure, It’s about, friendship, love and finding that someone that gets you completely. That person that you don’t have to wear a mask with, you can just be yourself.

Promises Hurt isn’t a sunshine and flowers book. There are plenty of funny and lighthearted parts, but it  touches on serious issues also. Many of my readers messaged me once they had finished the book saying that it had their emotions thrown about as if they were on a rollercoaster.

16/ What can readers expect next from you?

The conclusion!

17/ What do you think makes a good story?

The “FEELS” I love any book that can evoke a strong reaction out of me. I live for the books that make me feel.

18/ What is your favorite all time book?

That’s like asking me to pick a favourite child! I can’t do it. I can give you maybe three…

Me before you - JoJo Moyes

The First Last Kiss - Ali Harris

Maybe Someday - Colleen Hoover

The Opportunist - Tarryn Fisher

Unteachable - Leah Raeder

Taking Chances - Molly McAdams

Okay so I know that’s not three, I just love so many books.

19/ Other than writing, what are some of your passions in life?

I love to run, read and anything that involves having fun with my family :)

20/ If you were deserted on an island, who or what would you have to have?

Channing Tatum and a LARGE bottle of baby oil!

21/ If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

Invisibility, no wait…. the ability to teleport, scratch that nope, definitely invisibility. The perving and mischief you could cause is endless.

Thank you so much Elle for visiting me!
