Blog Spotlight Evelise Archer with Cameron's Negotiator

 Excerpt 1 (PG)
“More coffee, Cameron? I couldn’t help but notice you were flagging me down with your eyes.” Maude’s smile took any sting out of her tone. She adored the young pup.
“Please, and maybe a little info when you have time.” Cameron retrieved the newly filled cup and its saucer from her grasp. “Do you think you can sit for a minute?”
Looking around at all the occupied tables, Maude’s gaze fell back to the men at her current booth. “Let me pick up your order and I can take five. I’ve been on my feet for hours and could use the spell. Everyone seems to be eating and not wanting right now.”
Cam’s head ached and he had a twinge in the base of his skull. Tension wound through his shoulders when he thought of the small-statured human with the limp. He needed a closer look at his mate. The desire to embrace him, run his fingers through his spikey blond hair and see what color his eyes were, gnawed at his being. Soon, he promised himself.
“You’re awfully quiet all of a sudden,” Jay interrupted Cam’s thoughts.
“Sorry, just thinking about how to approach my mate. It’s not like I can simply say, ‘Hey, you’re my mate and by the way, I think you’re a wolf.’ Can I?” Rhetorical question— Cam didn’t expect Jameson to answer.
“Boys.” Maude placed platters of fried eggs, pancakes, sausages and toast in front of each of the men, and slid into the booth next to Jay. “What can I do for you, Alpha?”
Cameron smiled at the honorific, picking up a piece of his toast and dipping it into the runny eggs, sopping up the yolk, before placing a piece in his mouth. He watched Maude as he chewed, before speaking. Maude was older than she looked. To the human eye, she appeared to be in her forties, but she was an elder in the pack at over two hundred years old. She grew up with Cam’s parents as part of Joshua Sierran’s inner circle. When youth took over the pack with Cameron as Alpha, Maude elected to step down and enjoy her golden years. Her idea of retirement; working at the diner, keeping her finger on the pulse of everyone’s business. At least Cameron had been able to convince her to reside on pack lands. Her small cabin, perfect for her needs with an open door policy, inviting the young to always seek her wisdom, including him.
“Maude, we were running the ridge and I saw someone occupying the log cabin farthest from town, but closest to our lands. Any idea who the man is?” Leaning forward, Cameron didn’t want to appear too eager, but he needed some information on the man.
Deep in thought, Maude stroked the side of her face before speaking. “The blond from Philadelphia, about five-feet-six inches with a slight limp?” Already Cameron knew more in that one sentence than anticipated.
“Yes, that’s him,” Cameron answered her. “You say he’s from Philadelphia? Do you know what’s up with him? Please, it’s important.” Cam didn’t want to whine, but by the smirk on Jay’s face, he knew he’d done so.
“Well,” Maude began, “I heard he’s a cop of some sort. FBI, I think. Got hurt on duty and is recuperating. Why? He do something wrong? Should the pack be worried?” She crinkled her forehead in thought.
“No. No.” Cameron put his hands in front of his body in surrender. “He didn’t do anything wrong. I just want to know about him and why he’s here. I’m going to talk to him this morning, but wanted all my ducks in a row.”
Cameron contemplated how much information he should disclose. He inwardly chuckled, the elder had loose lips.
“Maude, if your Alpha gave you a directive, you’d follow it, right?”
Tilting her head to expose her neck, she replied, “Yes, Alpha.”
“I think the man is my mate. No, I know he is, but I don’t think he knows he’s wolf.” He waited for Maude to absorb what he’d said. “He’s the Omega to my Alpha.”
Cameron looked to Jay for support, the man nodded his head, before he continued.
“My wolf sniffed him out. I watched from the tree line, but when he spotted me, he took off toward the cabin like his ass was on fire. If the man knew about wolves, shifters, he shouldn’t have been spooked so much.” At least in Cam’s mind it made sense.
“Have you talked to your parents about this?” Maude leaned in and whispered.
“Yes, ma’am, I did. Dad and Mom think the same thing. My mate doesn’t know he’s wolf.”
“Do you want me to try and sniff around a little bit more.” Maude chuckled at her pun. “I know he walks the trails, because he’s come in and ordered sandwiches for takeout and he has a back pack with him. Charlie said he bought all the fixings to make trail mixes as well.”
Cameron contemplated his choices. Try to catch the man when he came into town and introduce himself or walk the trails, picking up his scent and introduce himself. Stalkerish, maybe? Either way, he didn’t want to scare his mate.
Shifting in the cracked, red faux-leather seat, Jay looked out the large window and said, “Well, it looks like you won’t have to wait, Cam. Your mate’s about to walk into the diner.”
The bell jingled over the door, and the man in question entered the establishment, limped past them, and sat at a vacant stool at the counter. “Maude. Jay. This is my lucky day. I believe I’ll go introduce myself as the welcoming committee.”

Excerpt 2 (R)

Before Trevor could respond to his declaration, Cameron pressed his lips to Trevor’s. Tasting the man’s essence, he licked his lips with his tongue until a slight moan emanated from Trevor, giving Cameron the in he needed.
Quickly, he invaded the warmth of his mate’s mouth with his tongue, swiping the small appendage over his teeth, gums, almost touching the man’s tonsils. He grasped Trevor’s hair, his fingers tangled in the spiky locks, and tilted his head, ravishing his mouth, only relenting when the need for air made it necessary. He placed slow, deliberate kisses along Trevor’s collarbone. Swiping short licks, he made his way down his chest and licked a taut nipple. He suckled and bit until Trevor writhed beneath him, forcing Cameron to take more as Trevor lifted off the grass bed, driving his tits farther into Cameron’s mouth. Cameron continued to suck while playing with the other nipple, tugging it to a peak. Thoroughly done with one side, Cameron gave the other nipple its just due.
“Oh fuck, Cameron, feels so good. I can’t believe I’m doing this. I feel like I’m on fire.” Cameron knew this would be the mating heat already beginning to manifest and riding Trevor hard. He’d have to explain things to his mate. Soon. But first he needed more of the man’s essence.
Making his way down Trevor’s torso to the bulge stretching the front of his khakis. “Shush, I’ll take care of you,” Cameron whispered against Trevor’s bellybutton.
Cameron slid his larger frame between Trevor’s splayed legs and undid the button, parting the fly of the pants. A parting of the Red Sea, Cameron thought. The bulbous head of Trevor’s dick peeked out of the waistband of his underwear, greeting Cameron, the tiny slit almost winking at him. Drops of pre-cum pooled on the tip. Cameron leaned down and flicked his tongue at the tiny droplets. Sweat and salt mixed with vanilla and cinnamon invaded Cameron’s taste buds. Holy fuck! The first real taste of his mate. The man he was destined to spend the rest of his life with lay beneath him waiting to be ravished.
Cameron suckled the head, wrapping his lips around the soft fleshy part of Trevor’s cock drawing it into his mouth, and dipped his tongue into the slit, chasing the droppings.
“Please, Cameron. I need more. Take it out, please. I’m burning here,” Trevor’s pleas fell to Cameron’s ears.

Cameron yanked the pants and underwear down, fully exposing his mate’s privates. Quickly rearranging himself, Cameron removed Trevor’s clothing. Smiling, he realized his mate had already shucked his sneakers.
Trevor’s cock was a thing of beauty, rivaling any Roman statue. The size of his frame certainly not proportionate to the size of his dick. Long and thin, at least seven inches, a prominent vein ran along the underside leading to the purple-colored head, leaking profusely.
“Trevor, there are so many things I want to do to you right now, but the first time we have sex should be in a bed, not out here.” Cameron stroked his mate’s cock, his palm slick with the droppings he offered. “But know this,” Cameron continued. “I will have you out here in due time, again and again in the nature we were meant to be in. But first…”
His voice trailing, Cameron swooped down to engulf the feast set before him until the groomed pubes tickled his nose. Up and down, he ran his mouth on Trevor’s cock, his hands on Trevor’s hips, sure to leave his mark.
Trevor writhed under him, sweet moans burst from his lips egging Cameron on. Cameron laved at his balls and took each one into his mouth, rolling them and probing with his tongue. He slipped two fingers into Trevor’s mouth, a silent plea to wet the digits. Cameron hoped his mate knew what would soon transpire. Once his fingers were thoroughly wet with Trevor’s saliva, Cameron brought them to the crease of Trevor’s ass crack and glided them up and down stopping at the puckered hole. Releasing his balls, Cameron licked at the wrinkled skin covering Trevor’s nether area, all the while rubbing his fingers along the outer muscle, loosening him for an invasion.
The muscle thoroughly softened, Cameron pressed the tip of his finger into the channel as he once again took Trevor’s dick into his mouth. He looked up at Trevor. His flushed skin, a beautiful shade of pink, like the castings of the setting sun still illuminating the sky before going to bed. If this was what it meant to be mated, bring it on. Cameron was surely in heaven. Cameron smiled at Trevor and nodded his head, a quiet permission to have Trevor move. Trevor got the message and began to fuck Cameron’s face. His movements were ragged as Cameron continued to deep throat his cock, his finger in his mate’s ass pumping as well.
Cameron continued to work Trevor’s cock and ass, and then…Cameron swallowed, engulfing the beautiful piece of man flesh down his throat. His finger found his mate’s prostate and pressed the nub. Trevor’s dick swelled in his mouth and he came. Forced to stay in the same position, Trevor yanked Cameron’s head down, lifting his hips, driving his dick farther down Cam’s throat. Cameron couldn’t get enough of the man, swallowing every drop he offered. He drew out his mate’s pleasure, suckling his dick and massaging his ass.

Lucy Felthouse with Native Tongues!

Out Now – Native Tongue – M/M Erotic Romance by Lucy Felthouse (@cw1985) #erotica #romance #military #interracial

Blurb:

They may be back on British soil, but the battle isn’t over.

When Captain Hugh Wilkes fell for his Afghan interpreter, Rustam Balkhi, he always knew things would never be easy. After months of complete secrecy, their return to England should have spelt an end to the sneaking around and the insane risks. But it seems there are many obstacles for them to overcome before they can truly be happy together. Can they get past those obstacles, or is this one battle too many for their fledgling relationship?

Author’s note: Although this story does work as a standalone tale, it’s recommended that you read the first instalment of the characters’ journey first—Desert Heat, which is available from all good retailers.

**For those of you that haven’t yet read Desert Heat either, there’s a great value double pack containing both books available exclusively on Amazon (from 14th May), which is available for lending, and for Kindle Unlimited members: http://lucyfelthouse.co.uk/published-works/desert-heat-native-tongue/ **

Excerpt:

Captain Hugh Wilkes drummed enthusiastically on the steering wheel of his car as he drove it up the M3 towards London. He sung loudly and tunelessly along to the song on the radio, too, but it didn’t matter. No one could hear him.
He’d surprised himself by being so chilled out about the volume of Friday evening traffic. He wasn’t the most patient of people, so the slow progress should probably have been increasing his blood pressure, if not leading to full on road rage. But, although he’d have loved to be actually achieving the speed limit, not bumbling along at a mere fifty miles per hour, Wilkes was just glad the traffic was moving at all. Britain’s roads, the motorways in particular, soon came to a standstill if there was so much as a tiny bump between two vehicles. So any progress was better than none.
Besides, what could he do about it? His only other options to get to London from his base in Wiltshire were a train, or stealing a plane, helicopter or tank. The latter might just cause a little bit of bother, and mean the end of his army career, not to mention criminal charges. The former meant cramming in amongst sweaty, disgruntled commuters. If that wasn’t bad enough, he’d be charged an extortionate amount to do so, probably wouldn’t even get a seat, and would likely be subjected to delays.

At least driving took him from door to door, with plenty of personal space. And if there were delays, well, he could sit them out from the comfort of his own vehicle, with the climate control set to the perfect temperature, and the radio blasting some of his favourite tunes.
The next song was even better, and Wilkes’ tuneless wailing became more enthusiastic, as did the drumming on the steering wheel. He was in one hell of a good mood, and if he was truthful with himself, he knew it wasn’t just the fact the M3 was moving at a nice pace. It wasn’t the Friday feeling, either. Sure, both of those things were contributing to his happiness, but the main reason he was grinning like a buffoon was the thought of what awaited him in the capital. Or rather, who.
Rustam Balkhi. His gorgeous Afghan boyfriend, whom he’d met out in Afghanistan while they were working together for the British Army. Now, with their tour of duty over and the forces’ presence pulled out of the country, the two men had returned to England. Wilkes had gone back to his regular army life in Bulford Camp, near Salisbury. Balkhi was in London, where he’d recommenced the medical training he’d postponed to become an interpreter for the Brits.

The past few weeks had been somewhat of a whirlwind. Wilkes’ return to the UK had been straightforward, but Balkhi had had to jump through some hoops in order to get back onto his medical course. He’d been willing to start from scratch, but it’d seemed like an awful waste of time, so Wilkes had spoken to his superiors, who’d explained to the university what important work Balkhi had been doing. Fortunately, they’d been persuaded of Balkhi’s commitment and character, and allowed him to pick up where he’d left off. That settled, Balkhi had to pack up, travel back to the UK, find somewhere to live, move in… and all before the start of the next academic term.
Wilkes had felt terrible. His return had taken place a few weeks before Balkhi’s, so although he’d been granted some leave for R&R, he hadn’t been able to either spend it with Balkhi, or to use it help him with his relocation. By the time Balkhi had set foot on British soil, Wilkes was back to work. And, given nobody knew about the two of them, or even that Wilkes was gay, he couldn’t exactly ask for more leave in order to help his boyfriend move into his new flat.
Life had conspired against them ever since, so this was the first opportunity they’d had to see each other since saying goodbye in Afghanistan all those weeks ago. They’d communicated via email, text message and phone calls, but it just wasn’t the same. Especially since they’d gone from seeing each other every single day for the best part of six months to not setting eyes on each other for weeks on end.

Wilkes had struggled terribly in the interim. Life had been tough enough while they were still out in the desert. After weeks and weeks of trying desperately to ignore their growing attraction, they’d finally given in to it. It had been stupid and risky, but, having quickly realised there was more to their attraction than the physical, they’d decided to carry on their relationship in secret while they were in Afghanistan, see how it went, and figure things out once Wilkes’ tour of duty was over. Balkhi had always intended to return to the UK for his studies, so they would, at least, be living in the same country.

Muffy Wilson 'The Para-Portage of Emily'

Interview and ‘Emily’ Promotion for Muffy Wilson ~ May 2015

Could you reveal any personal juicy stories about you?
Thank you, so much, for opening your cyber-home to me. It is a pleasure to be here with you, my dear friend. Well, I was raised in a military family so there are plenty of stories about men in uniform. Who doesn’t love that?! My father was a USAF Colonel whose work took us to all points from Alaska to France. We moved every two or three years, so I don’t have what most would refer to as a traditional childhood, more like Leave it to Beaver meets the Jetsons.  Many of my ‘firsts’ were in France as my formative years developing were north of Paris. So, my first kiss, my first taste of escargot, my first hot dog on a French baguette was at the top of the Eiffel Tower, my first bikini (I was thirteen) was on the French Riviera and I fell in love with a thirty-something lifeguard named Aldo. I thought my father was going straight to an early grave. My mother thought it charming and funny since I wound up looking like a blistered, crying lobster with the worst sunburn ever. No need to worry about Aldo. A few years later, my mother and I were shopping in Paris; it was the day she bought me an alligator handbag, a small one, with a bright red leather interior. I still have it. We were on the Champs Elysees on a corner and everyone was wailing and crying. It was 22 November 1963 and I was 14 years old. It was the day John F Kennedy was assassinated and I witnessed as the world was crushed and Camelot fell. I think I grew up a lot that day. We had to hurry home, 90 miles north. The Base was on lock-down and red alert. It was a day the world stood still yet was fiercely frantic beneath the surface.

You are a mother. Could you tell us about your role as a Mom?

I met my husband in California, on a day that I was none too happy with men. I was thirty-five and working in San Francisco as a Sales Manager for Honeywell and my father had a heart attack in Georgia.  I wanted to explore the possibilities of transferring to Georgia to be closer to the first man I ever loved, my dad. “The Silver Fox,” as my boss at the time was fond of being called, made a pass at me and told me ‘why bother, as my dad wasn’t going to live forever?’ I was stunned and profoundly moved by a myriad of feelings. Funny that I should meet the two most important men in my life from that day forward on a day like that - my husband and his youngest son, then 13. It was the greatest gift. We got married three months later and the three of us honeymooned in Niagara Falls. My husband is from Buffalo, NY, and had been married twice before (his first wife died and the second, VJr’s mother ended in divorce when he was just 6). I had never been married, so they were my first. When I was very young, and in college, I fell in love and got pregnant. He was my first, not my first love but my first lover, and for all my worldly experience, I was still pretty naïve - even in the ‘70s. Clearly, there is a whole lot more to this story but suffice it to say that decisions you make in your youth affect one’s entire life. I had an abortion and dropped out of college. The gift of my husband and his son, who fast became my own son, I felt, was God’s way of forgiving me. So, my role as a Mom is one I cherish, given it was my second chance and my redemption. Life has been good to me because of them. He has enriched my life beyond measure.

You have a very long list of projects consuming your time, but I would like to offer you the chance to show off and promote your writing career. You may include any exotic stories of your life if you wish.

I released The Para-Portage of Emily on March 24, 2015 to a warm reception and wonderful reviews. It was released in ebook format and will be released in print in June. I have two more books that will be released by Summer 2015. If I am lucky, they will all be available at once and cause a wonderful stir among fans of literotica. Beyond that, I have a control list of about fifteen projects which will be concluded throughout 2015-16 and 25-30 projects that will require my attention for 2016-17. Only another Virgo will appreciate how organized I am about my work. Some refer to it as being obsessive compulsive—anal, even. I can role with that.

When did you decide to write? And what genre and style did you prefer when you first started? What style and genre do you prefer to write currently?

I have been in sales and marketing my entire business career. Writing was a necessity and I was good at presenting technical detail. English was always a love and focus of mine throughout my education, but I only wrote proposals, presentations, technical material and project material. In private I wrote poetry as a developing young woman. I really never thought about writing personally’ until I met up with an old school chum, an old boyfriend. It was never a calling to me as it is for some writers. He wrote and it spurred me on. I slipped into the world of Erotica, not by choice or design, but quite by accident…and I loved it. Turns out I was pretty good at it, too, or so people commented. But, my style has changed, developed a lot since then. What I wrote in the beginning was raw and erotic. Now, I like to think I am more of a literoticist in that I write erotic romance. The plot drives the story, the story drives the characters and the erotic romance is really an extension of the developing relationships. I don’t write groin-grinders, although they have a place in our genre.

What genre, books, and authors do you like to read?

I love crime, thrillers, edge-of-your-seat whodunits. I also love period pieces, non-fiction, poetry and autobiographies. When I was very young and we lived in France, there was no television, at least not in English or in our house. The only television available to us was in the local pub. I will never forget seeing Steve McQueen say, “Sur la route”, in French on his Wanted! Dead or Alive series! I believe I giggled until I had cramps! Anyway, I read everything, absolutely everything almost insatiably. I wanted to be a criminologist or a medical examiner. Or a veterinarian. As well an actress and Ella Fitzgerald! It was not until I was in high school that I wanted to become a law enforcement officer—a Homicide Detective! But, I do love to read good literotica. I am not a fan of jump-and-pump but a love story with great, eloquently involved sex is a real page turner for me.

Do you have a person, real or fantasy, you would like to be?

Barbra Streisand. I always wanted to sing. My aunt sang torch songs and played piano in smoke filled supper clubs and piano bars. Isn‘t that romantic, a la Billie Holiday? I always wanted to do that. When I was ten or so, I was a little pudgette and my mother wanted to send be to dance classes; I wanted singing lessons. We settled on a set of bongo drums. Many years later, we were out schmoozing together at a piano bar and I took the mike with My Funny Valentine. Now, I just sounded like me, but she dropped her jaw. It took her four more martini’s to recover. She admitted I should have had singing lessons. We laughed our asses off, but of course, that was the four more martini’s!

You have experienced many adventures in your life and have lots of energy, but what would you like to do if you had any free time?

I would love to learn to play piano, learn Spanish and brush up on my French. But I am enjoying my life now. I work in Real Estate in SW Florida and try to find time to straighten my office. There’s that Virgo nag again.

Could you tell us about your new book, The Para-Portage of Emily, and the story behind it? You may include a brief synopsis and an excerpt. What or who inspired you to write your story?

My first book, Memories & Kisses, released last year in September 2014. It was about love lost and regained decades later. Do you have memories of a love that once was?...of a love that was lost?...of, perhaps, a rekindled love that survived decades of longing? I think we all have longings, not regrets so much as just simple, what if’s? and that caused me to think in terms of a stronger longing not over decades but centuries. I started Emily in 2010, but I really did not know where she was going to take me until I really got into Memories. Within a month, Emily was done.

It is a haunting love story about a Great Lakes seafaring captain that marries finally in his thirties to the daughter of one of his suppliers on the St. Lawrence Seaway whom he has watched blossom and grow into a beautiful woman since she was very young. He marries her and starts a life he has planned with her on a small Island in Lake Michigan at his estate, Mariner’s Maiden. The story is as much about them as it is about the young woman who comes to settle her uncle’s estate, Mariner’s Maiden, after his death. I love this story.

Blurb:

Emily Macque, a young, beautiful junior partner in her father’s law firm, is but a heartbeat away from love or destiny. Duty brings Emily to a frozen Island estate two hundred and fifty miles north of Chicago. Devotion requires she delve into the property history to settle an estate probate. Death lures her into the arms of the shadows seduction created by the flickering light and dark shadows.

What flames the timeless passions spanning the decades? Love, desire or obsession?
Colin Jorgenson, once a Great Lakes mariner, is a strong man haunted by love and loss. How long will he return each night, gripped by desire, hoping to find the woman he has loved for a century?
Beneath the pristine Island beauty, passions hungered, lingered in the ardent darkness. His passions, fueled by decades of loneliness and longing, could no longer be denied. Will they face eternity together or love in secret as dark things are to be loved between the shadows and the soul?

Kenzie Michaels Visits me with Nikohs Chosen Book 2

Greetings!  I’m Kenzie Michaels, here to entertain you today with a snippet from my latest release, NiKoh’s Chosen:  Family Matters, which is the second book in The Chosen series.
First of all, a tiny plug:  Book 1, Heart’s Last Chance, has been nominated for Best Sci-Fi Book of 2015 in the LRC awards. I  appreciate any votes cast my way, since this is the first time I’ve ever been nominated in these annual awards. Thank you!

When I began writing NiKoh’s story, it began to take a strange turn.  Writers are strange people, and I soon realized I was channeling both my younger sister and my own daughter’s reluctance to enter puberty.  My sister had declared she was ‘never’ going to ‘do that’, yet is now happily married with two children.  My daughter wasn’t thrilled when her body began to change, and I was less than thrilled when she became a mother at the tender age of eighteen.

I hope you enjoy this coming-of-age story, at least from GiNae’s point of view.  She has her own agenda of working with animals, and has no desire to go through Maturity, meet her Chosen, or even Bond.  In her limited experience, she sees this as a threat to her ambitions, plus her nightly dreams confuse her.

In this excerpt, she decides to confide in her friend and employer, since GiNae has no desire to talk to her mother.

Blurb:

Still mourning the tragic death of his beautiful mate, could another Chosen one already be waiting for NiKoh SiLah? To avoid what he’s not ready to accept, he throws himself into his work at Planet Security.

Leaving the Academy behind to follow her dream of working with animals, GiNae SoJae returns home. Preoccupied with work and not ready to take a mate, she’s horrified when her body enters Maturity. GiNae fights the changes occurring within her. But during nightly dreams she cannot control, an unknown man teaches her the secrets of her body.

Will NiKoh and GiNae succumb to the paths they think have been chosen for them or will they discover the true Chosen life that awaits them?

Excerpt:

“Can we keep this confidential? I…think I’m finally entering Maturity.”
“Oh.” RaKel smiled and sat back in her chair. “Anything you say will not go beyond this office. I imagine changes are happening, which seem a little scary?”

Her breath expelled in a rush. She does understand! “I’ve been having…dreams. And the worst part is, this person is completely unacceptable to me! What happens if I don’t feel the same way?”
“Slow down.” RaKel leaned forward. “Dreams involving your Chosen always come with an ‘ick’ factor, especially in the beginning.”

“No, no.” GiNae felt tears prick the back of her eyeballs. “I’m almost twenty years old, RaKel, and the man I’ve—” She swallowed hard. “He’s old enough to be my father.” Twisting her shirt in her hands, GiNae used it to wipe her eyes. There. She’d said it.

“GiNae, has he said anything to you in person?” RaKel’s tone was neutral.
She looked up. “No. Of course not. We haven’t spoken of anything yet. It’s all been in dreams.” Do I dare tell her? “He has indicated he’s patient, and will not force me to do anything. But his kisses—in the dreams—are very pleasant.”

“So it’s only involved kissing?”
GiNae squirmed. “It, uh, went a bit further last night, but that was before I realized who he was. His age is so much older…why can’t my Chosen be someone closer to my own age?” Her voice dropped to a whisper as tears fell faster. “I took charge of my life, RaKel, by refusing my placement at the Academy. Is this my punishment? To be shackled to a man who will tell me what to do the rest of my life?” She covered her face with her hands and sobbed.

“Oh, honey.” GiNae heard movement, then RaKel’s arms were around her. “It doesn’t work like that. You certainly aren’t being punished for choosing to follow your dream. This is something entirely different.”
“Then what?” Sniffing, she turned to look at her friend. “What happens if we are Bonded and I’m miserable? I don’t want to give up the animals. The idea of having children makes me want to vomit, much less having to care for an old man.”

“When you meet face to face, and sit down to express your fears, your wants, your expectations, you may find he will be supportive of your work. If he’s as old you say he is, then maybe he is a widower who does not want any more progeny, or maybe he’s as repulsed by the difference in your ages as you are, and may choose to refuse it.”
